Kavita Choudhry is research manager for the State Health Care Spending Project, an initiative of The Pew Charitable Trusts and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to help policymakers understand state expenditures related to health care and to manage these costs while maintaining or improving Americans’ health.
As lead for the project’s research agenda, Choudhry directs work focused on evaluating states’ health care expenditures as well as the potential of various policies to reduce costs while delivering quality care.
Prior to joining Pew, Choudhry conducted policy and data analysis at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. She previously worked at the Lewin Group, where she provided technical assistance, health care research, and data-driven analysis for clients, including state Medicaid programs, federal agencies, and foundations. She began her career performing health economics research at Stanford University’s Center for Health Policy.
Choudhry holds a bachelor’s degree from U.C. Berkeley and a master’s in public policy from Harvard University.
