Factions Unite Over Prison Reforms in Pennsylvania

As former Gov. George Leader sat down at a table at the Hilton Harrisburg in November, he thought, “This is an impossible group.”

In one seat, he could see someone from the American Civil Liberties Union, often identified with liberal causes. At another seat, he saw someone from the Commonwealth Foundation, the conservative group that advocates for leaner, less-expensive government.

Today, the group will gather in the media center at the Capitol and present "a series of transformative, evidence-based changes to the Pennsylvania corrections system that will reduce prison populations and costs without jeopardizing public safety."
