I don’t often agree with a lot of the moves made by our Georgia politicos, so when I do, I feel I should mention it.
State Rep. Bruce Williamson, R-Monroe, tells us state lawmakers are considering House Bill 1176, a measure which would treat those convicted of violent crimes more harshly than those who commit low-level drug and property crimes.
The bill would also treat these serious offenders, tougher by making sure they have more effective probation and are kept under more watchful eyes when they are released.

Pew Praises State Leaders for Justice Reinvestment Bill
The Pew Center on the States released the following statement today regarding Governor Tom Corbett’s signing of House Bill 135. The bill is the second half of the Justice Reinvestment reform package that was enacted through Senate Bill 100 in June (now “Act 122”) to protect public safety, hold offenders accountable and control corrections costs in Pennsylvania.
