Why Are So Many Americans Falling Out of the Middle Class?

01/17/2012 - On tonight’s Special Report with Bret Baier, James Rosen investigates the rising rate of downward mobility among the middle class. In a recent study, the Pew Charitable Trust found that 1 out of every 3 American middle class kids has fallen out of that class by the time they are an adult.

Sam Blick, a 48-year-old single man, was laid off last May and despairs of ever having the same lifestyle as he did before he lost his job. “I doubt I’ll ever see that standard of living again. The concept and idea of the American Dream is still there, but I don’t see that happening for myself or several of my family members. It’s just not in the works because we just can’t afford it.”
