GOP Governors Take the Spotlight

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin commanded the most attention at the Republican National Convention Wednesday night, as she accepted her party's nomination for vice president, but other current and former GOP state officials were in the spotlight as well.
Fellow governor Linda Lingle of Hawaii touted Palin's experience as governor and mayor. Former governors (and presidential candidates) Mike Huckabee of Arkansas and Mitt Romney of Massachusetts outlined their support for John McCain, their party's presidential pick. And former Maryland lieutentant governor Michael Steele left the crowd with a refrain about off-shore drilling that delegates would chant all night: "Drill, baby, drill."
