Report: Achievement Gap Still Wide
By Stateline Staff
The achievement gap between students who are white and affluent and those who are minority and poor is still high, according to a report that details how each state is doing in educating its neediest students.
The report was released Dec. 13 by the Education Trust, a Washington, D.C.-based organization that is pushing to close the achievement gap. It includes state-specific data on factors like college and high school graduation rates, percentages of qualified teachers and where they teach, and the difference in per-student funding between low- and high-poverty districts. Much of the information is broken down by racial categories.
