Return to Election Data Dispatches.

Last year, we noted the great elections data available online from the Maricopa County, Arizona Recorder’s office. Well, the county, with approximately 60 percent of the state’s registered voters, is at it again, sharing more compelling data.

This time, they are highlighting how the vast majority of their voters now register online, saving the county hundreds of thousands of dollars:

  •  In 2010, 73 percent of all Maricopa County voter registrations were submitted online. In 2009 this number was 85 percent, and in 2008 it was 69 percent.
  •  From 2008‐2010, more than one million registration forms were sent via the online system, saving the county almost $850,000 in processing costs.

Arizona has had online registration in place since 2002 and was the first state in the country to offer this option.
