In our previous dispatch, we looked at provisional ballots in Maricopa County, Arizona. Today, we examine new data the county shared at Pew’s recent Voting in America conference, showing the impact that online voter registration continues to have in the state’s most populous county.
Maricopa County has processed nearly 390,000 online voter registration transactions in 2012, which is 70 percent of the county’s total registration transactions for the year.
The county estimates that since 2008 they have saved almost $1.4 million in processing costs by shifting these transactions away from paper forms.
